Why do designers simulate? After all, they can measure the signal integrity and EMI of a board once it has been built. Often, management will set a schedule for the first prototype boards, rather than the market release. This can result in a prototype that is “on time” but fails to meet signal integrity or EMC requirements. The consequence is that the board may go through ten prototype turns before it’s ready for product release.
