Santa Clara, California - January 15, 2008 - Berkeley Design Automation Inc., provider of Precision Circuit Analysis technology for advanced analog and RF integrated circuits (ICs), today announced that Future Waves, a cutting-edge fabless manufacturer of RF and mixed-signal ICs for next generation digital communication and broadcast technologies, has selected the company's Analog FastSPICE¬ô circuit simulator for full-circuit performance simulation and complex-block characterization of its mobile digital broadcasting circuits.

¬ďVerifying our high-performance RF tuner for mobile digital broadcasting requires transistor-level simulation at the full-circuit level with true SPICE accuracy,¬Ē said Dr. Mark Dawkins, RF Systems Director at Future Waves. ¬ďAnalog FastSPICE reduced characterization times for our complex-blocks such as frac-N PLLs and RF AGCs by 5x- 10x with identical results to our traditional SPICE simulator. Analog FastSPICE also delivered full-circuit performance simulations of our entire digital RF tuner front-end with true SPICE accuracy, which was impossible with any other simulator in any reasonable timescale.¬Ē

Berkeley Design Automation tools include Analog FastSPICE¬ô circuit simulation, RF FastSPICE¬ô periodic analyzer, and PLL Noise Analyzer¬ô. The company guarantees identical waveforms to the leading "golden" SPICE simulators down to noise floor (typically 0.1% or less) while delivering 5x-10x higher performance and 5x-10x higher capacity. It achieves this by using advanced algorithms and numerical analysis techniques to rapidly solve the full-circuit matrix and the original device equations without any shortcuts that could compromise accuracy.

Design teams from top-10 semiconductor companies to leading startups use Berkeley Design Automation tools to solve big analog/RF verification problems.
